Central Baptist Church in Palmyra will be holding its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. This event is for ages 2–12 years and is BYOB — Bring Your Own Basket. The hunt will be rain or shine, as it will take place inside, and refreshments will be available afterward. For questions, contact Jen Allen at (856) 829–1907 or jenlallen18@gmail.com.

Palmyra Day

The borough will hold its annual Palmyra Day Street Fair on Saturday, May 6 on Broad Street. There will be a variety of family-friendly activities, food and craft vendors and live music.

“Palmyra Day is where the downtown business district on Broad Street is closed to traffic and vendors, the police and fire departments, and local businesses offer programs, goods and services, kiddie rides and public outreach events to the community,” township administrator John Gural said.

Palmyra’s Green Team will also be in attendance and will be handing out about 500 tree seeds, according to Councilwoman Bernadette Russell.

For craft and food vendor information, contact Anthony Gendin at (856) 336–2585 ext. 1009 or anthony@j-dogs.com.

Breast Cancer Walk

The Porch Club of Riverton will hold its fourth bi-annual Paint the Porch Pink Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, May 21. The walk was founded in 2011 and has raised close to $55,000 so far.

The family-friendly, pet-friendly, three-mile walk raises money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. A variety of pink refreshments will be available at pink porches along the route. Registration is $25, and all pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt. The event will feature live music, balloons, face painting and raffles.

KnitWits, a local knitting club based at the Riverton Free Library, will have a table set up at the walk and will be giving out free Knitted Knockers, a warm, handmade, lightweight alternative to traditional breast prosthetics. Unlike expensive prosthetics, Knitted Knockers are free to whomever needs them.

“Any woman who needs it or knows someone who can use it, they can take them for free,” Palmyra resident and Knitted Knockers local organizer Karen Healey said.

Walk registration begins at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the walk at the corner of Howard and Fourth streets in Riverton. The walk kicks off at 2 p.m. and the event ends at 5 p.m.

Relay for Life

A local Relay for Life walk will take place on Saturday, June 3 at Delran High School at 4 p.m. Residents from towns all over will participate.

Relay for Life is a “fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path” and is the “signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society,” according to the American Cancer Society. These walks last between six and 24 hours, and one team member must always be on the track. The Delran walk will last for eight hours.

Library events

The Riverton Free Library will be hosting various events to get Palmyra in the spring spirit.

On Monday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m., Molly Morrison will be holding an adult art class at the library using colored pencils. Registration is required.

On Tuesday, April 4, drop into the library any time while supplies last to make a springtime baby animals craft to take home.

On Saturday, April 15, make an Easter sock bunny at the library at 10:30 a.m. with just a few simple supplies. Registration is required.

Make a caged stone pendant necklace to celebrate Earth Day at the library on Saturday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m.

Kids can swing by the library on Saturday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. to make a Mother’s Day fingerprint flowers craft. Registration is required.
