Township to break ground on soccer turf fields at Maiaroto Sports Complex

Groundbreaking scheduled for Monday, March 13, at 6:45 p.m.

A groundbreaking for a new township soccer turf field will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at Maiaroto Sports Complex, 1401 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees.

Mayor Michael Mignogna announced the Voorhees Township Committee approved a contract for the construction of three turf soccer fields at the Maiaroto Soccer Complex.

“These new turf fields are a public private partnership between the Municipality and the Voorhees Soccer Association,” Committeewomen Michelle Nocito said. “The turf fields will provide a safer and more versatile playing environment for the 1,400 children that participate in the VSA.”

This township project will convert three aging soccer fields to multiuse turf fields. The project will include installation of artificial turf, new lighting, rehabilitation of existing lighting, new fencing and walkways. These upgraded soccer fields will be essential in promoting Voorhees soccer and keeping players safe and connected with the community, added Nocito.

Mignogna, Nocito, Deputy Mayor Jason Ravitz, Committeeman Harry Platt, Committeeman Michael Friedman, Municipal Engineer Greg Valesi from CME Associates and The LandTek Group, General Contractor, will participate in Monday’s groundbreaking.
