Evesham Police arrest man for stealing from woman’s purse at ShopRite supermarket

Store loss prevention officers observed the theft and provided officers with a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle.

The following report is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On March 9 at 4:06 p.m., Evesham Police say officers responded to the Shoprite, 307 W. Route 70, for a report of a male who had stolen the wallet out of a shopper’s purse.

According to police, store loss prevention officers observed the male steal the wallet and provided responding officers with a detailed description of the suspect and vehicle he was leaving in.

A responding officer observed the vehicle fleeing the store parking lot onto Route 70.

Police say the vehicle was stopped and during the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of the victim’s stolen wallet. The wallet and all its contents were returned to the victim.

Arrested:

Robert Mount, age 55, of Iselin, was charged with fourth-degree theft. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail with no bail.
