Weekly Roundup: Cherokee High School reads to children, police seek info in Radio Shack robbery

This week Cherokee High School students read to Evesham Township first-grade students for Read Across America Week, Evesham Police asked for information on those suspected of robbing a Radio Shack on Feb. 18 and more. Catch up on the week that was with the weekly roundup.

Cherokee High School holds Read Across America event for Evesham’s first-grade students

This week Cherokee High School held a Read Across America event for Evesham’s first-grade students. The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there to get the festivities started as future chiefs participated in numerous activities throughout the day and read books with high school students during their English classes.

Evesham Police seeking information in Feb. 18 strong-armed robbery at Radio Shack

On Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m., Evesham Police say three males entered the Radio Shack at 921 W. Route 70. Once inside the store, police say one of the suspects distracted employees while another suspect scouted the cell phone display for an Apple iPhone 7 plus. Anyone with information is asked to contact Evesham Police.

Evesham Mayor Randy Brown files motion to dismiss defamation lawsuit from school district official

Lawyers for Mayor Randy Brown have filed a motion to dismiss a defamation lawsuit brought against Brown in federal court by Evesham Township School District director of personnel Richard Dantinne Jr. Brown denies defaming Dantinne at a press conference in January where Brown claimed a female employee of the school district had told him that multiple female teachers in the district had allegedly accused Dantinne of sexual harassment.

Evesham Municipal Utilities Authority to move business office to Sharp Road on March 6

Starting on March 6, the Evesham Municipal Utilities Authority will move its business office from the township municipal complex to a new location at 100 Sharp Road. Residents looking to pay their bills in person are asked to visit the new location after that time.

Evesham Police continue to promote voluntary surveillance camera registration program

For those who currently utilize private video surveillance at their home or business, the Evesham Township Police Department asks residents and businesses to voluntarily register their systems to help the department respond to criminal incidents. Police say residents and businesses are not always aware that their system may have captured information that could help police solve crimes and keep the community safer.
