Liverpool FC International Academy gets ball rolling in Moorestown

This expansion on the club will offer New Jersey players advanced opportunities.

Following the same curriculum as the Liverpool Football Club International Academy, a New Jersey branch of the club, based out of Moorestown, launched on Saturday, Feb. 18. This expansion will allow local soccer enthusiasts the opportunity to “learn and play the Liverpool way.”

“The club launch is a very special way that we announce a new member of the Liverpool FC International Academy America,” Nancy Lane, the Liverpool FC director of communications, said. “Liverpool FC International Academy America is the official U.S. partner of the Liverpool FC International Academy in England.”

According to Lane, this partnering youth club was initially born from three teams, two coaches and one vision to be “the best youth soccer club in America.” Since it originated in Texas in 2006, the club now has eight affiliated clubs in New Jersey, Michigan, Florida, California, Utah and Missouri.

Despite being the newest partner club, the New Jersey branch plans to kick off its first year with 18 teams and approximately 200 players. These teams will be comprised of players ages 3 to 18, and will offer the ability to partake in many of the same signature traditions as the famous Liverpool FC.

Tryouts for the club will take place in March, April or May depending on the age of the player, and training with the teams will commence in June or July. Tryout information can be found at http://www.liverpoolfcamerica-nj.com.

“We are delighted to launch the LFC International Academy New Jersey,” Dan White, head of International Academies at Liverpool FC, said in a press release. “Week-in and week-out, we are delivering coaching programs to young players across America. This latest announcement means that New Jersey is now part of this fantastic initiative.”

Founded by Barry Lynch, the Moorestown-based initiative will feature year-round play and instruction. Additionally, Lynch plans to help grow club play in New Jersey through a mixture of outstanding technical player development and team success on the field.

“Moorestown is centrally located for all of our players and has a strong history with sports and recreation,” Lynch said. “Moorestown itself is a beautiful town with genuinely nice people. It’s part of the reason we like to call it our home.”

In further developing his model, Lynch plans to host a LFC IA Camp in town this summer from Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21. At this camp, which will be open to players from across the state, coaches from Liverpool will travel to New Jersey to deliver a week-long program that will include skill challenges and coaching sessions. Online registration for the camp began on Monday, Feb. 20 and can be found at www.liverpoolfcamerica-nj.com.

“We at Liverpool FC International Academy America are very excited to welcome the New Jersey family,” Peter Brody, CEO of Liverpool FC International Academy America, said. “Barry Lynch understands what it means to represent this club and will develop a model with key attention being paid to the development of players both on and off the field. It is with honor and pride we welcome New Jersey to LFC IA America.”
