A Cherry Hill man was arrested early Friday morning for possession of child pornography.

Phillip Sheppard, 42, was charged after detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant early Friday morning at his Cherry Hill home. Detectives seized numerous digital media devices from inside the residence and discovered images of child pornography during an onsite preview of Sheppard’s computer.

Sheppard is a software engineer and also volunteers for the Girl Scouts of America in Cherry Hill. He was charged with one third-degree count of possession of child pornography by summons and released.

The investigation began after detectives noticed activity indicative of child pornography coming from an IP address associated with Sheppard’s residence.

Detectives were assisted on this case by members of Homeland Security Investigations — Cherry Hill Division, the Waterford Township Police Department and the Cherry Hill Police Department Tactical Team.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
