Letter to the Editor: Save the Affordable Care Act

People will suffer without Affordable Care Act.

If Congress guts the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) without instantly replacing it with a law that’s equal to or better than the ACA, it’s likely that many of your friends and neighbors in Voorhees will suffer, and many people throughout the country will undoubtedly suffer.

Some may die.

Though I’m lucky, my insurance will be fine, but several of those near and dear to me will suffer immeasurably.

This scares me. It keeps me awake when all I want is sleep. The only way that you and I can effectively help our endangered friends, neighbors, and family members in Voorhees and elsewhere is to participate in one of many nonpartisan groups, like New Jersey Citizen Action (https://njcitizenaction.org), that will ethically pressure congressional representatives to support the ACA or instantly replace it with a law equal to or better than the ACA.

If the ACA is not retained, improved or replaced with a law that’s equal to or better than the ACA, millions of American lives will be thrown into turmoil and despair. Chronic illnesses and unnecessary deaths will spike. This is not hyperbolic ranting. It’s what happens when millions of men, women, and children, especially those with preexisting conditions such as depression, epilepsy, and high blood pressure suddenly lose their health insurance. Thus, I fully urge you to actively support your endangered friends, neighbors and family members in Voorhees and elsewhere. Actively participate to save quality health insurance.
