The four-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 7:34 p.m. last night
At approximately 7:34 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 130 North and Neck Road for a serious motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the collision involved four vehicles, with multiple occupants being injured. Due to the seriousness of the collision, the Route 130 and Neck Road intersection was shut down and traffic was for several hours to allow officers to conduct their investigation.
The initial investigation indicates that prior to the collision, a red Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Route 130 approaching Neck Road. Just prior to the intersection, the Ford Mustang made an erratic lane change and struck a Dodge Durango that was stopped in traffic in the left turn lane for Neck Road. This caused a chain reaction with the Dodge Durango striking a Hyundai Elantra, which in turn struck a Honda CRV.
The operator of the Ford Mustang was airlifted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton due to severe head and facial injuries, and he is currently listed in critical condition. The operators of the other three vehicles suffered minor injuries and were treated at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly.
This collision is still under investigation by members of the Burlington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau.
Blood was drawn from the operator of the Ford Mustang and will undergo toxicology tests. No charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.
