Early spring boating safety courses provided by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1808, Marlton

With the courses boaters can qualify for the required New Jersey Boating Safety certificate.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 1808, Marlton, is offering locals way think of summer in the winter by preparing for a safe boating season with “About Boating Safely,” the official Coast Guard Auxiliary boating safety course.

Experienced boating safety instructors, members of Flotilla 1808 have scheduled two early spring courses. For boaters who wish to complete the eight-hour course in one day, Flotilla 1808 will hold About Boating Safely on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Eastern Regional High School, 1401 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees, in the Media Center room.

Flotilla 1808 also offers the same course on two evenings, Wednesday, March 22, and Wednesday, March 29, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Rowan College at Burlington County, 900 College Drive, Mt. Laurel, in the Technology and Engineering Center building.

Boaters who successfully complete the course will be awarded the New Jersey boating certificate, required by the New Jersey State Police for New Jersey boaters and personal watercraft operators.

Topics include basic navigation rules, boating terminology and safe boat handling, safety equipment and more. All students receive the textbook and numerous additional informative handouts.
