Police report: Man attempts to steal two expresso machines valued at $599 from Bed Bath & Beyond

Other recent reports include shoplifting and motor vehicle theft.

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 1:26 p.m. on Jan. 24, a male suspect attempted to steal two Brevelle Expresso machines from Bed Bath & Beyond in Centeron Square.

Police say an employee knocked one machine from the suspect’s hands but he was able to run off with the other one.

According to police, the machine is valued at $599.99.

At 11:32 p.m. on Jan. 25, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Cobblestone Drive near Williamsburg Way for a suspicious person call. Officers located Joshua Green, age 29, of Hampstead, Md., walking in the area. Green was arrested for an outstanding warrant and found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. He was charged and released after satisfying the warrant.

At 6:11 p.m. on Jan. 25, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Exxon On The Run, 799 Centerton Road, for a shoplifting complaint. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested James R. Stayton, age 31, of Hainesport, and Lorraine Stayton, age 52, of Mount Holly. Both were charged with shoplifting and possession of hypodermic syringes. James Stayton was committed to the Burlington County Jail and Lorraine Stayton was released pending a court hearing.

At 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 25, a subject used a counterfeit $100 to make a $4.25 purchase at Scotto’s Pizza, 3111 Route 38. The employees did not realize the money was fake until after the suspect left the store.

At 1:12 p.m. on Jan. 25, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73 for an assault report. The investigation revealed that two men engaged in a physical altercation. Neither subject wanted to pursue charges against the other.

On Dec. 19, 2015, Mt. Laurel Police received a report of a vehicle that was broken into while it was parked at LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle. The victim’s credit cards were stolen and subsequently used fraudulently. A Mt. Laurel police detective eventually identified the suspect as Timothy D. Jones, age 35, of East Orange. On Jan. 24, 2017 an arrest warrant for Jones was issued charging him with burglary and credit card theft. He remains at large.

At 1:26 p.m. on Jan. 24, a male suspect attempted to steal two Brevelle Expresso machines from Bed Bath and Beyond in Centeron Square. An employee knocked one machine from the suspect’s hands but he was able to run off with the other one. The machine is valued at $599.99.

An employee of Shoprite on Nixon Drive reported this vehicle was purposely scratched between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Jan. 23.

At 8:10 p.m. on Jan. 22, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a shoplifting in progress at the Wegman’s on Centerton Road. The suspects attempted to flee in their vehicle but were stopped by police. Two of the three people arrested attempted to steal $211 worth of steak and shrimp. Bruce J Strickland, age 46, of Boca Raton, Fla., was charged with shoplifting and had outstanding warrants, and George L. Tucker, age 52, of Burlington, was charged with shoplifting, hindering his own apprehension by providing a false name, and had multiple warrants and Lynn Mumford, age 49, of Willingboro, was arrested for a probation violation warrant. All three were committed to the Burlington County Jail.

Between 11:50 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 22, a Michael Kors jacket was stolen from an unsecured locker in the woman’s locker room at LA Fitness. The victim’s car keys were in the coat. The keys were equipped with a locating device and were tracked to the area of the Retro Fitness parking lot on Chews Landing Road in Gloucester Township, however, the keys could not be located.

At 3:46 p.m. on Jan. 21, Mt. Laurel Police responded to an erratic driver complaint on Centerton Road. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop near 56 Centerton Road and arrested Craig M. Koncelik, age 36, of Hainesport. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

At 11:04 a.m. on Jan. 20, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Shoprite on Nixon Drive for a soliciting complaint. Officers located Michael P. Waldman, age 32, of Mt. Laurel, soliciting people for money in the parking lot. Waldman was arrested after he provided a false name to officers in an attempt to avoid being arrested for an outstanding criminal warrant. He was also found in possession of hypodermic syringes. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension and possession of hypodermic syringes. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 20, four men entered Exxon On The Run, 799 Centerton Road and purchased several cartons of cigarettes using different credit cards. After the men left it was discovered that the credit cards had been stolen.

A resident of the first block of Elkington Drive reported that their 2015 Nissan Rogue was stolen during the overnight hours of Jan. 14 into Jan. 15. The investigation revealed the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence, unlocked, with the keys in the center console. At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Jan. 15, police in Philadelphia recovered the vehicle. Marcellus K. Shazier, age 18, of Mt. Laurel and Jordan M. Long, age 18, of Mt. Laurel, were arrested by Philadelphia Police at that time. Mt. Laurel Police charged both men with motor vehicle theft. They are currently being held in a Philadelphia jail on charges related to the theft.

On Jan. 2, a Mt. Laurel resident reported that her debit card was used to make $210 worth of fraudulent purchases in Upper Darby, Pa. The investigation identified the suspect as Lavonda R. Murray, age 21, of Upper Darby, Pa. A warrant charging Murry with computer related theft was issued for her arrest. She remains at large.
