Marty Grosz and his Hot Winds bring back jazz on Feb. 12

Tri-State Jazz Society hosts performance at Haddonfield UMC

Vintage guitarist, vocalist and storyteller Marty Grosz returns to the Tri-State Jazz Society with his Hot Winds for a performance at Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road, on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m.

Hot Winds includes two of New York’s top traditional jazz players: Randy Reinhart, cornet and trombone, and Dan Block, reeds, plus Philadelphia’s Joe Plowman on bass. Individually, the band members have played with Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Charlie Byrd, Vic Dickenson, and ex-Modern Jazz Quartet drummer Connie Kay, worked on the Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks’ Grammy-winning soundtrack to the Martin Scorsese-produced HBO series “Boardwalk Empire,” and opened for acts such as Paul Simon and Joan Osborne. Grosz has made dozens of recordings over the years. His most recent CD is “Diga Diga Doo: Hot Music from Chicago.”

Half-price admission of $10, payable at the door, is available for first-time attendees and members; general admission is $20; full-time students with IDs and children are free. There are no advance sales or reservations.
