Traffic stop leads to arrest for possession of heroin and stolen handgun

Three individuals have pending court dates for their charges.

The following information comes from the Berlin Police Department:

On Jan. 10, a patrol officer in the area of White Horse Pike and Ellis Avenue conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. As a result of this traffic stop, the female driver was found to have no insurance for the vehicle. As the investigation continued, a narcotics K-9 was called to the scene which alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed and a search warrant was granted.

On Jan. 12, a search warrant was executed and resulted in several bags of suspected heroin and a stolen handgun, which was stolen from Winslow Township.

On Jan. 13, with the assistance of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Lindenwold Police, one of the male occupants from the vehicle stop was taken into custody and found to be in possession of marijuana and an additional quantity of heroin.

Two males were arrested and the female driver is set to turn herself in. Those three individuals have pending court dates in Camden County Superior Court for their charges.
