The board also named Bob DeCicco as BOE president.
Two of the three Eastern Board of Education members who were elected to three-year terms on the board last November were sworn into their new positions last Thursday evening.
Hillary J. Garr and Bob DeCicco were both sworn into three-year terms on the board during its reorganization meeting last week. DeCicco is entering his 40th year on the board, and Garr is entering her 19th year on the board.
The third board member elected in November, Jude J. Brown, was not present at the reorganization meeting.
The board chose DeCicco as the board president for 2017. Richard Teichman was chosen to serve as vice president.
According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, there is no statute or regulation requiring a new elected board member to appear at a reorganization meeting. Brown will be sworn in at the board’s next meeting on Jan. 18.
