Year in Review: Evesham set to move DPW yard at no cost to taxpayers

New location is catty corner from current location

This year, Evesham Township was presented with what Czerniecki called a “unique opportunity” to move its Department of Public Works operation catty corner to its current location on Evesboro Medford Road.

Council approved two ordinances that allowed the township to bond for the purchase of 15 acres of industrial land at 100 and 120 Sharp Road for $6.1 million.

Officials said the move would help the DPW expand from its current yard of 5.2 acres and three structures of 35,000 square feet of floor space to the new location of six structures and 50,000 square feet of floor space across 15 acres.

To move the yard at no cost to taxpayers, the township plans to utilize revenues and property taxes from continuing to rent to tenants already at the new location and from selling the DPW’s current site.
