At its Dec. 21 regular meeting, the Lenape Regional High School District (LRHSD) Board of Education and administration thanked long-time member representing Evesham Township, Joseph Borucki, for his service.

Borucki, who served for 18 years, chose not to run for another term in the November election.

LRHSD BOE President Linda Eckenhoff extended warm thanks to Borucki, who, in addition to his expertise and astuteness, the district said was also appreciated for his wit and impromptu poetry.

“My colleagues on the board and I extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to Joe Borucki. He has been an asset to fulfilling our district’s mission. We will miss him, his smile and his poetic humor,” Eckenhoff said.

Reflecting on nearly two decades as a LRHSD board member, Borucki said it had been an honor and privilege to represent Evesham Township on the board.

“Frankly, my tenure with the board has been one of my professional life’s highlights,” Borucki said. “It’s my sincere hope that my participation contributed in a small way to the overall outstanding achievements of our district and students.”

Borucki also shared his gratitude to others, beginning with his family.

“I thank my wife, Gina, and my children, Alyssa, Michael and Matt, for their support and understanding for all of the time away from home. It is with great pride that my wife and I, and two of my kids, are district graduates and my youngest son will graduate in 2020 from Cherokee,” Borucki said.

During the meeting Borucki was also was effusive in his commendation of the LRHSD board and administration.

“Our board is filled with selfless, passionate and caring advocates for all of our students; putting the goals of the district ahead of their own, to provide the best educational and extracurricular opportunities to our students,” Borucki said. “We have been blessed with incredible, progressive and ultra-professional administrators and with energetic, compassionate and inspiring teaching staffs at all of our schools, who are second to none. I’m lucky, not only to call all of these people my colleagues, but also fortunate to have met and befriended so many wonderful individuals.”

LRHSD superintendent of schools Carol Birnbohm emphasized that board members not only serve as leaders in the community but as role models for students.

“There is no better way to illustrate for our students the importance of serving one’s community, than to look to the members of our board of education,” Birnbohm said. “Joe’s dedication and commitment to all of the students and families in all eight townships in the Lenape district exemplifies true service to others.”

Birnbohm said that Borucki challenged, questioned or reaffirmed every recommendation, with the goal of making each the best it could be for the betterment of students, staff, programs and policies.

“On behalf of the entire LRHSD administration and staff, we extend our gratitude for his contributions in making our district one of the best places to go to school and to work,” Birnbohm said.

Borucki also extended a special thanks to the Evesham Township community and welcomed his successor, newly elected LRHSD board member Bonnie Olt. Barry J. Fitzgerald also represents Evesham on the board.

“The citizens of Evesham entrusted me with this position for all of these years. It has been an amazing experience; I’m indebted to them for the opportunity to serve our community,” Borucki said. “I know Bonnie will bring passion, intelligence and new ideas that will keep our district moving forward. She has all of my best wishes and support as she takes on this remarkable opportunity.”

First elected in April of 1998, Borucki served as one of two Evesham Township representatives to the LRHSD board. During his tenure, he served as president, vice-president, and chairperson for various committees. Prior to serving on the LRHSD board, Borucki also served for two years on the board of the Evesham Township School District.
