Weekly Roundup: A holiday concert, police stops and Cherokee’s Choir in a contest

South Jersey Pops to perform holiday show at Marlton United Methodist Church on Dec. 12

The South Jersey Pops orchestra is trying something a little new this season at its annual holiday shows. This year’s ‘Pops Holiday Stories’ will feature holiday music related to stories, with a live reading of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.’ Learn more about the show and how to get tickets.

Evesham seeks to help disabled residents at Inglis Gardens through grant application for North Elmwood Road sidewalk

If Evesham is approved for a grant application through the 2017 Community Development Block Grant program, the sidewalk would provide aid to the residents of the Inglis Gardens independent housing complex. Residents there have long asked the township for help navigating to nearby shopping centers and other locations. Learn more about the details of the grant application.

Evesham Police K9 ‘EZ’ detects heroin during traffic stop

During a traffic stop on Nov. 25 Evesham Police K9 EZ was called upon to assist officers with the detection of narcotics. K9 EZ was walked around the exterior of the suspect’s vehicle at which time she alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle by officers resulted in the discovery of heroin, Suboxone and hypodermic needles.

Cherokee High School Concert Choir in 101.1 More FM Philadelphia Christmas Choir Competition

The Cherokee High School Concert Choir is a contestant in the 101.1 More FM Philadelphia Christmas Choir Competition. Marlton listeners and others can start voting for the Cherokee on Monday, Dec. 5. Cherokee’s performance is of “Joy to the World.”

Local first responders honored by Evesham School District’s Teddy Bear Academy daycare

Students at the Evesham Township School District’s Teddy Bear Academy daycare got a lesson in “being thankful” on Nov. 29 when local first responders visited the children as part of the National Day of Giving. Local first responders visited Teddy Bear Academy so students could give them letters, pictures and other treats that the students had made to show their appreciation
