The Cinnaminson Elementary Home and School Association will be holding its annual Winterfest on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cinnaminson Middle School.

Winterfest is a fun-filled day with entertainment for the whole family.

“We have somewhere around 90 tables worth of crafts and vendors,” Publicity Chair Christina Rayzis said. “You’ll see a lot of handmade crafts, beautiful wreathers … last year we had hot sauces. It’s a wide variety of different things.”

All entertainment at the event will be local and will include student performances such as the Rush School Music Makers. Santa will also attend so kids can give him their Christmas lists and pose for a photo. Local photographer Lana Downs will be taking the photos.

“She actually makes a really nice photo set up and she takes pictures with Santa and posts them on her website where you can download them for free,” Rayzis said.

There will also be a Sweets and Treats lane where attendees can purchase a cookie tin and fill it with a variety of homemade cookies and candies. Poinsettias and mumsettias will be available for purchase, and Rayzis said many people come to the event just for the beautiful flowers. Vendors such as Avon and Tastefully Simple will also be in attendance.

This is the 20th year that the CEHSA is holding the event.

“It’s a big deal,” Rayzis said. “It’s really a testament to all the parents before me.”

Tree Lighting Ceremony

The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Park.

The event will include free photos with Santa, holiday carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, toy train rides, hot chocolate, a performance by a local string band and performances by local school choirs.

Senior Christmas Dinner

The Cinnaminson Community Center will be holding its Senior Christmas Dinner on Friday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature dinner and holiday music, and Santa Claus will be in attendance. The dinner is open to Cinnaminson senior residents only.

Breakfast with Santa

On Sunday, Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Cinnaminson Police and Fire departments will be sponsoring a Breakfast with Santa. The event will be held at the Merion, and all ticket proceeds will go to a local charity.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children older than 5 and free for children ages 4 and younger.

Special appearances will include Olaf, Kevin the Minion and the Grinch. DJ Doug Kirkwood will provide music, and Moore Photography will be taking photos of kids with Santa.

The event will also include prizes such as Philadelphia Flyers tickets and Harlem Globetrotters tickets.

Senior Citizen Breakfast

Cinnaminson Middle School will be hosting a holiday breakfast for senior citizens on Friday, Dec. 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the middle school.

The event is held by seventh- and eighth-grade students as a way to give back to the seniors in the community. The students help with everything from sending invitations to asking for donations to decorating for the event.

The event will include breakfast, baked goods, a visit from Santa and performances from dance and music groups.

“It is such a wonderful event which the seniors of Cinnaminson look forward to each year,” event organizer Christina Beri said. “It has become a tradition for them to come out with their friends and neighbors and enjoy a great morning.”

Holiday library events

There’s a library event at the Cinnaminson Branch Library for everybody this December.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m., adults can make a giant snowflake craft. The library will provide all supplies.

On Saturday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m., kids ages 4 and older can drop by the library to make a Christmas-themed craft to take home.
