Berlin Borough has plenty to keep residents entertained during the holiday season

From a tree lighting ceremony to a holiday tour and brunch with the characters of “Frozen,” Berlin Borough residents have plenty to keep busy with this holiday season.

The winter holidays will soon be upon the residents of Berlin Borough, and those in town will have plenty of seasonal events to keep them busy throughout the rest of the year.

The holiday seasons kicks off with the annual tree lighting ceremony and parade on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Village Square in front of Borough Hall, located at 59 S. White Horse Pike, sponsored by the Berlin Rotary. Santa will also be arriving on the Berlin Fire Truck. That’s right — Santa is coming to town! The parade starts at 6 p.m. and kids will have a photo opportunity with Santa at the Gazebo. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served and the Solid Rock Choir from the Solid Rock Baptist Church will perform.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Downtown Berlin Revitalization Corporation presents a “Historic Holiday Tour” from 3 to 8 p.m. Stroll the Village Square and enjoy an old-fashion holiday “story.” Ride the trolley or self-tour decorated historic homes and properties throughout the town such as the railroad station and the old post office. Tour exhibits including over 20 vintage and contemporary quilts on display at the Senior Center. The trolley will pick up residents at Village Square and loop around the White Horse Pike throughout the day. Hot chocolate and holiday bites will be served at various stops.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.downtownberlin.com. If you don’t purchase tickets in advance, you can purchase them the day of at Village Square. Each ticket also gains admission to The Vault from 6:30 to 9 p.m. where the history museum of Victor Records will be presented along with entertainment, a vintage toy display and miniature train village. The Vault is located at 150 S. White Horse Pike.

Additionally on Dec. 10 is another opportunity to meet old Saint Nick. Virtua Berlin in hosting Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Enjoy a light breakfast and bring a camera for a photo with Santa. There will be fun activities for the kids. Space is limited. Berlin Community Elementary School’s annual Band Winter Concert is Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. The Choir Winter Concert is Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. The school is located at 215 S. Franklin Avenue, Berlin.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s annual Christmas Concert takes place Friday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in their gymnasium. The concert will feature the Beginner and Advanced Band, Choir, Handbells and Recorders. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is located at One Cedar Avenue, Berlin.

Backstage Brunch presents “Frozen in Time Musical Review,” an interactive brunch at The Vault. Enjoy songs and have breakfast with the characters from “Frozen.” Kids will have photo and autograph opportunities with the characters.
