Cherry Hill Public Library will also host a few holiday-themed events this season.
Cherry Hill residents who can’t wait to get into the holiday spirit won’t have to wait much longer. Cherry Hill Township’s holiday events will kick off this weekend and continue through the remainder of the year. From the township’s tree lighting to fun events at the library, there are a number of ways for residents of all ages to enjoy the holiday season.
Barclay Farmstead hosting special Holiday House for 200th anniversary
This year’s annual Barclay Farmstead Holiday House will have a unique touch. Holiday House will be the final major event during Barclay Farmstead’s 200th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, the farmstead is looking back at its history with the theme “200 Years of Memories.”
“It’ll explore the different holiday themes throughout the farmstead’s history,” township director of communications Bridget Palmer said.
The holiday traditions of all three families who owned the farmstead will be explored in this year’s event. There will be American Dolls and costumed interpreters to help tell the story about the farmstead and guide guests through the home. The event will also feature dozens of crafters and other holiday gifts for sale.
Holiday House will be open Friday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 20. Friday hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Residents can attend the event for free, but there is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Holiday lighting ceremony scheduled for Dec. 6
Cherry Hill Township’s annual holiday lighting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carman Tilelli Community Center.
The event features youth choirs and musicians from Cherry Hill schools. Santa Claus will make a special appearance and help Mayor Chuck Cahn and members of council light the township’s Christmas tree and Hanukkah menorah.

Township helping others in need with holiday food drive
Residents can help others in need in the community as Cherry Hill Township is partnering with other local organizations such as Cherry Hill Public Schools and the public library in this year’s Holiday Food Drive.
“The public can drop off canned goods to the township and the library,” Palmer said. “We’ll continue to do a drop off up until Martin Luther King Jr. Day.”
Collection bins will be set up in the lobbies of Town Hall and the Cherry Hill Public Library. Residents have until Jan. 13 to donate items.
Library hosting variety of holiday events
Residents of all ages can get into the holiday spirit next month at the Cherry Hill Public Library.
Teens will have a chance to create their own holiday gift on Saturday, Dec. 17, at a do-it-yourself gift event. Participants can make an easy-sew gift card holder, a nerdy eight-bit ornament or energizing bath salts for a family member or friend. The event will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. To register, call (856) 903–1229.
From Tuesday, Dec. 20, through Thursday, Dec. 22, the library will be hosting a Holiday Film Festival. The library will be screening “Love the Coopers” on Dec. 20, “The Preacher’s Wife” on Dec. 21 and “The Family Man” on Dec. 22. All of the films begin at noon and are free to attend.
Finally, on Saturday, Dec. 31, kids can ring in the New Year early at the library’s annual New Year’s Eve at Noon event. It will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Kids ages 2 to 6 can ring in the New Year at noon with dancing, music and fun activities. No registration is needed.
