Tabernacle election results along with local county results

The Tabernacle Township Committee and the Lenape Regional High School Board of Education representative for the town will remain the same, with incumbents running unopposed. However, the Tabernacle School District Board of Education will be seeing some change as only one incumbent won out of the three full-term open seats up for election.

According to unofficial results from the Burlington County Board of Elections, incumbent Victoria Shoemaker was re-elected to the board with 26.25 percent of the votes. Newcomers Megan Chamberlain and Gail Corey earned the two remaining seats with 24.70 percent of the votes and 18.53 percent of the votes, respectively. Incumbent John Bulina received 16.99 percent of the votes. Incumbent Geneva Moore appeared on the ballot as she was running for re-election, but passed away on Oct. 22.

The one-year term on the Tabernacle BOE left by Stephen Price was uncontested, as Julia Sailer was the only candidate running for the office. She received 99.61 percent of the vote.

Robert H. Bende Jr. was also the only one running for the open seat on the LRHSD BOE, and he received 99.9 percent of the votes.

The Tabernacle Township Committee election was uncontested. Republican incumbents Stephen Lee, IV and Joseph Yates, IV were the sole candidates running for the committee. Lee received 49.99 percent of the votes and Yates received 49.91 percent.

In the 3rd Congressional District of the House of Representatives, incumbent Republican Tom MacArthur won over Democrat Frederick John LaVergne and Lawrence W. Berlinski, Jr. of the Constitution Party for the one open seat. MacArthur received 52.81 percent of the votes.

Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders Republican incumbent Latham “Robert” Tiver received the most votes over Democrat Reva Foster, with 51.48 percent of the votes. The county sheriff will remain the same with Republican incumbent Jean Stanfield receiving 52.13 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger James H. Kostoplis.

For county surrogate, Freeholder and Republican Mary Ann O’Brien received 51.64 percent of the vote with Democrat Sander Friedman receiving 48.34 percent of the vote.

The first statewide referendum question that asked if voters approved of amending the state constitution to permit casino gambling in North Jersey did not pass, with 78 percent of voters opposed.

The second referendum question that asked if voters approved of amending the state constitution to dedicate all revenue from the state motor fuels tax and petroleum products gross receipts tax to the Transportation Trust Fund passed by a slight margin, with 54 percent of voters approving.

The unofficial results do not include mail-in or provisional ballots.
