It is November already and Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. I am sure the turkeys are going into hiding until after the big day.

There is a fun, new scavenger hunt in the children’s section of the library. It is based on one of America’s favorite board games, Clue. Can you discover who committed the murder, where it happened and who the culprit was? All the clues are there and all you have to do is solve the mystery.

The fourth and fifth grade book club will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Thief Lord” by Cornelia Funke. This is an exciting tale of adventure and mystery in Venice, Italy. In addition to talking about books, there will be games and crafts and as always, snacks.

Reading is not only fundamental to development, but in an era of social media, it can bring families together. On Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. the library will be presenting Face to Face Space, a dialog on talking about how to create a safe use of social media for children and families. There will also be strategies for building the parent/child bond and preparing children to become the next generation of parents and leaders.

Another important event for adults is a seminar on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. on disaster preparation. This presentation by the Emergency Management Coordinator of Medford will include information about how emergency management operates, how to prepare your family for disasters and information about how to receive information during an emergency.

Two important dates to note are Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Be sure to get out and vote. The other is Veterans’ Day on Friday, Nov. 11 to honor all who have served our country. The library will be closed on both those days.

Until next time, keep turning those pages! Or logging in!
