Cherry Hill East girls’ tennis repeats as South Jersey champions

The Cougars swept past Egg Harbor Twp. High School, 5–0, on Tuesday to win the South Jersey Group IV title. The team will play in the NJSIAA state semifinals on Thursday morning.

Cherry Hill High School East girls’ tennis repeated as South Jersey Group IV champions on Tuesday afternoon as they swept Egg Harbor Twp. High School, 5–0.

The Cougars had little trouble dispatching Egg Harbor Twp., as they won all five matches in straight sets to improve their 2016 record to a perfect 18–0. Stephanie Yanosov, Pallavi Goculdas and Natalie Yanosov were victorious in singles. In doubles, Sarah Jang and Rebekah Colacot; and Mari Kimenker and Sanjana Doshi won their matches.

Cherry Hill East will try to win their first state championship since 2004 on Thursday. The Cougars will play in the NJSIAA Group IV semifinals at 11 a.m. against Bergen Tech at Mercer County Park. If they win, they plan again at 3 p.m. against either Ridge High School or Princeton High School.
