General Club of Haddon Fortnightly hosts business meeting Oct. 28

The General Club of the Haddon Fortnightly will be holding their October Business Meeting in the Haddon Fortnightly Clubhouse at 301 Kings Highway East and Grove Street on Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. The program, which will occur after the business meeting, is a display and discussion of one member’s, Barbara Datto, Madame Alexander’s Collection of First Lady Dolls and hostesses from Martha Washington to Pat Nixon, dressed in their beautiful inaugural gowns; the collection stopped after the death of Madame Alexander in 1990.

The presenter will also be covering the first ladies gowns from Rosalyn Carter through Michelle Obama with pictures. In addition, the speaker will be sharing little known facts about the women who acted as the First Ladies of this country. The Madam Alexander First Ladies Collection was on display at the LBJ Library in 2013 and is now in their archives, but you may see them now at the Haddon Fortnightly while we anticipate the next ball of 2017.
