Obit: Denton

Arnold “Bud” Denton, age 91, died on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Medford Leas in Medford. Denton was a longtime resident of Moorestown and member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Denton grew up on a farm in Chalmers, Ind. and served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a navigation instructor and navigator. After the war he received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1949 and a doctorate degree in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1953. He worked at Campbell Soup Company for over 30 years, first as a food-processing researcher and later as a business executive.

Throughout his life, Denton gave generously of his time and experience to many professional, educational and charitable organizations. He felt passionately about education and its power to improve people’s lives. In retirement he was involved in many organizations including Purdue University, where he served as a mentor for many students in the department of Food Science.

His wife Cathy, son, Jim and sister, Irene Post, preceded him in death. His sons Greg (Janice) and David (Kristine), granddaughter Karin, brother Gordon (Marilyn) and nieces and nephews survive him.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 Bridgeboro Road in Moorestown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown or the Medford Leas Residents Assistance Fund.
