Haddonfield Public Library grand reopening is this Saturday, Sept. 17

The Haddonfield Public Library, 60 North Haddon Ave., will celebrate the completion of recent renovations at its grand re-opening on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library has planned free family-friendly events for the public to enjoy throughout the day. The public is encouraged to stop by to join the celebration and participate in the many activities –designed to test one’s knowledge and challenge one’s skills.

The events schedule is as follows:*

All Day — Button Maker Station
First floor Tutor Center

Show off your creativity by creating a button you will wear throughout the day.

All Day — Classic Board games
Front Lawn

Enjoy games such as connect four and checkers.

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.– Multi-generational Trivia Contest
Children’s Program Room

Test your knowledge in many categories and compete for the grand prize.

11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — 3D Printer Demonstration
Library Classroom

Learn just how a 3D printer works and what it can be used for.

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. –Children’s Documentary Screening
Children’s Program Room

Enjoy “NATURE’s In the Valley of the Wolves,”a documentary about how the reintroduction of the predator has changed the entire ecosystem of the park.

1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. –Visit from Haddonfield-based award winning illustrator Robert Byrd in the Children’s Program Room

Meet this local celebrity and hear his story.

1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Adults’ Documentary Screening
Library Classroom

Learn about “Circle of Poison”which talks about the dangers of pesticides.

3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.– Pre-millennial Trivia Contest
Library Classroom

Test your knowledge on more recent trivia.

4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — 3D Printer Demonstration
Library Classroom

Second demonstration on how 3D printers work and when to use them.

5 p.m. — Temporary Tattoo Station

Front Lawn
Stop by and grab some ink to show off to your friends.

5 p.m. — Family Movie Screening –Title TBA

Weather permitting there will be an enjoyable screening of a family movie to cap off a great day in the newly renovated Haddonfield Public Library.

Teen Commons

During the event, Game Frenzy will have strategy games set up so anyone can play during the event. They will also offer a crash course on the games so anyone can join in on the fun.

The library is now open to the public at its original location after undergoing renovations, including increased open spaces and other restorations to make the library more effective and aesthetically pleasing. The library had been standing for nearly 100 years. Because of its age it was decided that improvements to the structure as well as the accessibility for people in with disabilities. Ramps as well as elevators were installed in order to make the library easily accessible to everyone that wants to come to take advantage of all the great tools they have to offer. Although many new aspects have been added, parts of the building have been refurbished to preserve its historical feel, including fireplaces as well as the magnificent Terazzo tile floor located in the rotunda.
