Attempted phone scam and outstanding warrant tops this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Report

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 1:41 a.m. on Sept. 1, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fellowship Road near East Gate Drive. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 25, of Mt. Laurel. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

At 1 a.m. on Sept. 1, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Ramblewood Parkway. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 19, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On Aug. 31 a female, age 34, of Philadelphia, was served with arrest warrants from Mt. Laurel Police. She was identified as a suspect in two burglaries that occurred in July of 2014 on Fenwick Lane. Warrants for her arrest were obtained in February of 2015 but she wasn’t taken into custody until recently. She was charged with burglary and theft with bail set at $30,000. She remains in custody at the Atlantic County Jail.

At 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 31, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Rogers Walk. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 26, of Camden, after he provided a false name to avoid being arrested for outstanding warrants. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension and turned over to Camden County Police for an outstanding warrant.

On Aug. 29, a 75-year-old victim reported that he received a phone call from an unknown subject who claimed he represented a company that was going out of business. The suspect told the victim that the business owed the victim $249 however; they were unable to transfer money to a personal account. The suspect asked the victim to obtain $2,200 worth of iTunes gift cards and call him back with the codes. The victim purchased $1,700 worth of cards and called the suspect back. The suspect became upset with the victim since he did not purchase $2,200 as he was told to. The victim ended the call and did not lose any money in the transaction.

At 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 29, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the area of Hainesport Road and Forrest Lake Drive for the report of a female who walked off into the woods after consuming heroin. Officers searched the area and located the woman unconscious in a wooded area near Forest Lake Drive and Larchmont Boulevard. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, a Cyclamatic electric bicycle was stolen from the shopping center at 200 Larchmont Blvd. The bicycle was described as silver with a silver battery box behind the seat. The suspect was described as a male, 5’6” tall, wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

At 3:28 p.m. on Aug. 29, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Shop Rite on Union Mill Road for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a male, age 47, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing after satisfying an outstanding arrest warrant.

Between 6:50 and 8 p.m. on Aug. 28, a wallet containing cash and credit cards was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Planet Fitness, 3105 Route 38.

At 12:40 a.m. on Aug. 29, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the first block of Wood Lark Drive for the report of an unconscious male in a vehicle. The investigating officers broke a window on the vehicle to gain entry after being unable to rouse the driver. The driver, a male, age 21, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.

At 12:09 a.m. on Aug. 28, Mt. Laurel Police located a driver asleep at the wheel stopped on Hartford Way at Elbo Lane. Officers arrested a male, age 51, of Lumberton. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

Between 2 and 5 p.m. on Aug. 28, four vehicles parked on Mayfair Lane were vandalized. Someone used a chemical etching stamp and randomly placed etchings on several windows of each vehicle.

At 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 27, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Century Parkway for a disturbance. An officer stopped a suspect vehicle that was leaving the parking lot and arrested a male, age 26, of Camden. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was released pending a court hearing after satisfying an outstanding arrest warrant.

At 4:42 p.m. on Aug. 27, Mt. Laurel Police responded to PC Richard & Son for a credit card fraud. A suspect attempted to purchase $2,500 worth of electronics with a fictitious credit card. He fled the store when he realized the police were called.

At 12:20 p.m. on Aug. 27, a victim reported that she accidentally left an iPad 2 in a shopping cart in the parking lot of Wegman’s on Centerton Road. When she returned a short time later the iPad was gone.

At 2:54 p.m. on Aug. 27, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Larchmont Boulevard. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 18, of Merchantville. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 600 block of Country Club Parkway reported that his 2006 Suzuki GSX motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot of his residence during the overnight hours of Aug. 26 into Aug. 27.

Between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 27, two vehicles parked at the Future Fitness on Hovtech Boulevard had windows broken and purses stolen. In both cases the purses were visible from outside of the vehicle.

A resident of the 1000 block of Courtney Way reported that a Play Station 4 gaming console was stolen from their residence between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. No forced entry was made to the residence.

The manager of a hotel on the 900 block of Route 73 reported that on Aug. 26 three unknown juveniles discharged fire extinguishers on the ninth and tenth floors of the hotel. Investigators are attempting to identify the juveniles.
