Evesham School District’s Teddy Bear Academy experiences carnival week

TBA Carnival 2

The carnival was in town for one week only, and the children of Evesham Child Care’s Teddy Bear Academy (TBA) stepped right up. TBA celebrated Carnival Week with fun and games, beginning on Monday, July 11, culminating with an in-school carnival put on by staff on Friday, July 15.

“We did this last year and also in the fall,” said Alyssa Sheridan, Lead Teacher of pre-Kindergarten at TBA. “Each class thinks of and then creates a game. The kids enjoy it. It gets them out of the classroom and they get excited. They can go play.”

Every child, except for the infants, left the classroom and came into the hallway at TBA, where together, they played all their favorite carnival games: ring toss, bean bags, pin the nose on the clown, and bowling. One room also was set up as a carnival photo booth, complete with funny masks and a carnival backdrop for the children’s photos. After all the festivities were over, the children munched on their favorite carnival snack — popsicles.

“The bowling pins, the ice pops, and the clown… I just love it!” said CJ Rudolph, age 4. “I love going to the carnival and playing. I love to play in every center [area] at TBA. I make friends here. I like my classroom.”

Sanibel Gabris, age 5, agreed.

“It’s very fun. I liked the bowling. I scored,” Sanibel said. “I like to write letters, like the alphabet. I also like playing outside on the slide at TBA.”

Throughout the summer, the childcare program, operated by Evesham Township School District (ETSD), celebrates a different theme each week. This year, the children will enjoy Down on the Farm Week, Under the Sea Week, Bug Week, and more.

“We pick weekly themes for the summer in order to make it feel like a real day camp. Children love carnivals and all things related, which is why we chose it as one of our themes,” said Leah Perlmutter, Evesham Child Care Coordinator.

Children are still welcome to join TBA for the remainder of the summer session or to begin childcare in the fall; but spots are filling.

TBA is open to all children aged six weeks to pre-Kindergarten. TBA has seven classrooms, an indoor play area, two fenced-in outdoor play areas, a nurse’s office, bath¬rooms and a separate entrance ex¬clusive to Evesham’s Teddy Bear Academy families.

Teddy Bear Academy’s school-year program has three options to fit families’ schedules. Tuition rates range from $303 to $1,100; detailed tuition information is available on the Evesham Township School District website at www.evesham.k12.nj.us. Contact Evesham Child Care at 856–988–0686 for more information. Registrations are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all spaces are filled.
