Paintballs shot at Wegman’s and basketball game assault top this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Report

On July 7, graffiti was found painted on the side of a building in Trotters Crossing Park.

Two vehicles parked on the 100 block of Preakness Drive were damaged during the early morning hours of July 7. Both vehicles were parked in the roadway in front of two separate residences when they were vandalized.

At 3:21 p.m. on July 6, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Clover Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 60, of Cherry Hill for having stolen license plates on his vehicle. The investigation revealed that the male bought the vehicle with the license plates on the car. He had an agreement with the seller to turn the plates into the Motor Vehicle Commission but never did. Instead he drove the car with the old plates on it compiling numerous toll road violations that were billed to the previous owner. He was charged with receiving stolen property and released pending a court hearing.

At 12:05 a.m. on July 6, Mt. Laurel Police were dispatched to Wegman’s on Centerton Road for the report of a vehicle that drove into the parking lot and an occupant shot a paintball gun at the building. The vehicle then fled the scene and was subsequently stopped by Moorestown Police. The occupants were also involved in an incident in Moorestown where paintballs were shot at a person. Mt. Laurel Police charged a female, age 28, of Cherry Hill, for possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and disorderly conduct. Bail was set bail at $5,000 with a 10 percent option. She was released after posting bail.

At 4 p.m. on July 4, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 25, of Williamstown, for outstanding warrants. He was also charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was released pending a court hearing after satisfying his warrants.

At 2:41 p.m. on July 4, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Marne Highway near Creek Road. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 26, of Lumberton. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

At 9:43 p.m. on July 3, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residential burglar alarm on Danbury Court. During the investigation officers discovered a rear window screen was removed and the window was opened triggering the alarm. The burglar was apparently scared off by the alarm and did not enter the residence.

At 7:10 p.m. on July 3, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Street near Hooton Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 30, of Moorestown. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. He was released pending a court hearing.

An assault occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. on July 7. A 17-year-old male victim from Mt. Laurel reported that he was punched in the face during an argument that he had with another male while playing basketball at the basketball courts on Larchmont Boulevard at Union Mill Road. He suffered a broken jaw as a result of the punch.

At 9:25 p.m. on July 2,, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the 1100 block of Route 73 for a harassment report. The victim told police that a former friend and her boyfriend followed him while he was travelling on Route 73 in his vehicle. He stated that the male was throwing items at his vehicle as they drove. A short time later a male, age 26, of Mt. Laurel and a female, age 22, of Lumberton arrived at the police station to report that the victim had damaged 26-year-old male’s vehicle with a crowbar during an altercation on Route 73. The investigation determined that the story that the 26-year-old male and 22-year-old female told police was untrue. They were both arrested and charged with filing a false police report. They were released pending a court hearing.

At 9:05 p.m. on July 2, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73 for a theft report. The victim reported that she was in the process of unloading her vehicle after checking into the hotel for the night when she was approached by another hotel guest identified as a female, age 31, of Mt. Laurel. The female told the victim that two juveniles were rummaging through her vehicle so she took a bag out of the car so the juveniles wouldn’t steal it. The victim checked the bag and discovered a bottle of hydrocodone pills was missing. The investigation revealed that the female had stolen the pills. She was arrested and charged with theft, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was committed to the Burlington County Jail for an outstanding warrant.

On July 2 an employee of a hotel on the 900 block of Route 73 reported that someone stole her backpack from an employee break room. The bag contained cash, identification and medication.

A resident on the 100 block of Mountainview Road reported that someone broke into his residence between July 1 and July 2. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the residence by forcing open a rear window. Jewelry was stolen.

A guest staying at a hotel on Crawford Place reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle between June 28 and June 29. A laptop computer, Beats headphones and a briefcase were stolen.
