Cherokee student wins Walt Whitman Birthplace Associations poetry contest

Cherokee senior Jacob Lazarow was recently named the winner of the Walt Whitman Birthplace Associations’ 30th Annual student poetry contest.

This year’s theme was “A Child Went Forth”.

Lazarow’s entry, “CheesestickShuffle”, was selected as a winner among the 3,000 entries submitted.

This is third consecutive year that Jake has been awarded for his writing in numerous national contests.
