Motor vehicle accidents and marijuana arrests top this week’s Mt. Laurel Police report

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

On March 22 at 9:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the area of Waverly Avenue for the report of a vehicle that had left the scene of a minor hit and run crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Church Road. Officers located the vehicle and driver in the area of on Columbia Avenue. A male, age 19, of Mt. Laurel was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released ending a court hearing.

On March 21 at 7:56 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Glenbrook Drive. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 58, of Bensalem, Pa. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A victim reported that his iPhone 6 was stolen from an unlocked locker in the men’s locker room of the YMCA Centerton Road on March 21 between 7:45 p.m. and 9 p.m.

On March 21 a victim in her 80s reported that she was contacted via email two weeks ago by a company that stated her computer was infected by a virus. She contacted the unknown company and they advised her they could fix the problem for $179. She paid the fee with a credit card and they walked her step by step through a process to give the company remote access to her computer. The company then locked her out of the computer and she has not had any further communication with them.

On March 20 at 11:48 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Elbo Lane at Mt. Laurel Road. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 45, of Evesham. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A victim reported a window was broken out of their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of 3718 Church Road on March 20 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

A victim reported that someone broke the window out of her vehicle while it was parked at the YMCA on Centeron Road on March 20 between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Her purse was stolen from the vehicle.

On March 20 at 3:09 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to Wegmans on Centerton Road for the report of a suspect attempting to purchase several gift cards using multiple credit cards. Responding officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on the suspect on Marter Avenue as he left the area. The investigation revealed that the suspect had multiple fictitious credit cards in his possession and attempted to use them to make the purchase. Officers arrested a male, age 24, of Cambria Heights, N.Y. He was charged with forgery of a credit card, possession of fraudulently embossed credit cards, and attempted credit card fraud. Bail was set at $75,000 no 10 percent option and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A victim reported a lap top computer and other items were stolen from their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of Centerton Square on March 20 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

A victim reported that her wallet was stolen from her purse while she dined at Applebee’s on Route 73 on March 19 between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. She stated that she had her purse slung over the back of her chair. Her credit cards were then used to make over $1,600 in purchases at a local store.

On March 19 at 12:35 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 56, of Philadelphia, Pa for stealing $1,073 worth of merchandise. He was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

On March 18 at 11:14 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fellowship Road near Century Parkway. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 40, of Maple Shade. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On March 18 Mt. Laurel Police received a report of multiple shopliftings that occurred at Target on Centerton Road. A Loss Prevention Officer from the store reported that a suspect stole merchandise on March 9, 10 and 11 totaling $1,230. The suspect was identified as a female, age 50, of Southampton. An arrest warrant was issued charging the female with shoplifting and bail was set at $25,000 no 10 percent option. The warrant was served on the female at the Burlington County Jail where she was being held on other unrelated charges.

A victim reported that she accidentally left her purse at the McDonalds, 3049 Route 38, on March 16 at approximately 11 a.m. When she returned a short time later the purse was gone.

On March 16 a victim reported that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she dined at Panera Bread on Centerton Road at approximately 12 p.m. Her credit cards were subsequently used to make purchases at several stores.

On March 16 at 11:35 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. The suspect attempted to steal $195 worth of merchandise. When confronted by loss prevention officers the suspect dropped the merchandise and fled the store. At approximately 1:45 p.m., the suspect was arrested after he returned to the Home Depot to retrieve his vehicle. A male, age 55, of Monroe, was charged with shoplifting and bail was set at $5,000 no 10 percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Feb. 25 Mt. Laurel Police began an investigation into the theft of $54,313.36 from T.D. Bank. The investigation revealed that a contracted employee working at the T.D. Bank Customer Service Call Center on Atrium Way funneled the money into his personal account over a six-month period. On March 15 at 1 p.m. a male, age 30, of Philadelphia was arrested at police headquarters and charged with theft. He was released pending a court hearing.

On March 15 at 12:34 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Ark Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 23, of Woodbury. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On March 13 at 12:11 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Springdale Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 28, of New Castle, Del. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On March 12 at 1 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Wegmans on Centerton Road for a past tense shoplifting. The investigation led to the identification of two suspects who stole $642 worth of alcoholic beverages from the store. Warrants were issued and Ocean Township Police near the Wegmans in their town arrested the pair later that afternoon. All of the stolen merchandise was recovered. Mt. Laurel Police took custody of a male, age 33, and a male, age 32, both of Worchester, Mass. They were charged with shoplifting and bail was set at $12,500 no 10 percent option for each suspect. They were committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On March 12 at 6:56 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hartford Road near Hutchinson Road. During the investigation officers arrested a female, age 33, of Mt. Laurel. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On March 12 at 12:42 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Fellowship Road for a disturbance in a room involving 10 to 15 people. During the investigation one of the hotel room occupants began flushing marijuana down the toilet and attempted to keep officers from entering the bathroom. A male, age 20, of Camden, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, tampering with evidence and obstruction of the administration of law. He was released pending a court hearing.

On March 12 at 12:18 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to an erratic driver complaint in the parking lot of a hotel on Diemer Drive. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot and arrested a male, age 27, of Atlantic City. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.
