On Feb. 15 at 12:13 a.m., Medford Police stopped a green Mazda for speeding and an equipment violation on southbound Taunton Boulevard near Chestnut Road.

When police approached the vehicle, an odor of burnt marijuana was present within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a partially burnt marijuana cigarette and a plastic bottle with a pen and socket inserted into the side with suspected marijuana inside the socket.

The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters to be processed.

She was issued summons for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of CDS paraphernalia, speeding, maintenance of lamps, and possession of CDS in a vehicle.

She was later released pending a court appearance.

Fire

On Feb. 14 at 5:21 p.m., Medford Police and Fire responded to the 200 block of Church Road for a report of a vehicle fire.

A passerby observed the fire while driving down Church Road and alerted a resident of the condition, who then contacted 911.

Medford Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, which was contained to the bed of the pickup truck involved. Fire Marshal responded to the scene and is currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Multiple Burglaries

In December of 2015, a multi-jurisdictional investigation, comprised of detectives from Medford Township Police, West Deptford Police, Harrison Township Police, New Jersey State Police, Woodstown Barracks, New Jersey State Police, Buena Barracks, Delran Police, Monroe Township, Police, Gloucester City Police, Carney’s Point Police and Middle Township Police, was initiated pertaining to a series of commercial burglaries.

Between Nov. 30, 2015 and Jan. 7, 2016, there were fourteen burglaries and one attempted burglary reported in five New Jersey Counties. In each burglary, a convenience store or gas station was targeted for cigarettes, cigars and cash. The stores were entered by prying a door or smashing the glass. Over $40,000.00 in cash and product was reported stolen.

Through the cooperative investigation two Gloucester City residents were identified as the subjects responsible for the burglaries.

They were each charged with numerous counts of burglary, theft, criminal mischief

and conspiracy.

One is being held in the Cape May County Jail and the other is being held in the Atlantic County Jail.

Motor Vehicle Accident

On Feb. 18 at 7:32 a.m. Medford Police, Fire, and EMS responded to a report of an over turned motor vehicle accident on Evesboro-Medford Road north of Route 70. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, hit a ditch, and over turned.

Medford Fire Department extricated the driver from her vehicle after she was unable to exit the vehicle as a result of it laying on its side.

Evesboro-Medford Road was closed from Route 70 to Sharps Road for approximately one hour.

Medford EMS and Virtua Paramedics treated the driver’s injuries and transported her to Cooper Medical Center in stable condition.

Investigation into the accident is continuing.
