Temple Beth Sholom hosting Sunday afternoon movie on March 13

Temple Beth Sholom will be hosting a Sunday afternoon movie event on March 13 at 2 p.m.

“Beneath the Helmet: From High School to the Home Front” will be the movie shown on March 13. The film is a coming-of-age story following the journey of five Israeli high school graduates who are drafted into the army to defend their country. At the age of 18, away from their homes, families and friends these young individuals undergo a demanding, inspiring journey, revealing the core of who they are and who they want to be.

From the creators of the PBS-featured documentary film “Israel Inside: How a Small Nation Makes a Big Difference”, “Beneath the Helmet” illustrates how these young men and women are defending not only their homes, but also the values of peace, equality, opportunity, democracy, religious tolerance and women’s rights. The lessons they learn along the way are lessons that can be appreciated, understood and internalized by the film’s main target audience.

Tal Rosenberg, a veteran of the IDF Paratrooper’s Special Forces, will be our special guest commentator.

He was discharged with honors following a severe injury. Rosenburg recently joined Friends of the Israel Defense Forces prestigious program STRIDES, enabling him to run and ride bicycles after 20 years of only being able to dream of taking part in these sport activities.

Tal Rosenberg is general manager, technology solutions at IMS Health

This is a cooperative program sponsored by Temple Beth Sholom Hazak and the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.
