The Alice Paul Institute has announced the recipients of the 2016 Alice Paul Equality Awards. Honorees include Kim Guadagno, Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey; Carli Lloyd, a member of the US women’s World Cup Soccer team and two-time Olympic champion; Dana L. Redd, mayor of Camden; Tracy Riley, Esq., Riley & Riley LLC; Debra S. Rosen, Esq., Archer & Geriner, P.C.; and Camelia M. Valdes, Passaic County prosecutor.

The Alice Paul Equality Awards are named in memory of Alice Stokes Paul (1885–1977). Born in Mt. Laurel, Paul dedicated her life to the single cause of securing equal rights for all women.

Paul led the final campaign for women’s right to vote.

After the 1920 victory, she authored the Equal Rights Amendment and initiated gender equality principles in both the United Nations Charter and in the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The awards, which will be presented at a gala dinner on Thursday, March 24, 5 to 8 p.m., at The Westin Mt. Laurel, honor individuals from any industry or field who capture the spirit of Alice Paul and as a consequence, directly or indirectly, continue her mission of advancing women’s equality in America.

Guadagno began her public service career as a federal prosecutor with the organized crime and racketeering strike force in Brooklyn.

Later, she was elected the first woman sheriff in Monmouth County where she managed a 650-member law enforcement agency encompassing the county jail.

Carli Lloyd began playing soccer in pickup games as a child in Delran. She plays center midfielder for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League, and on the U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team. She was voted MVP of the 2015 FIFA World Women’s Cup final and was recently named 2015 FIFA player of the year.

Dana Redd was elected Mayor of Camden in 2009 and again in 2013.

Before that she served on Camden’s City Council, where she worked to secure Camden’s HOPE IV project. She also served as a New Jersey State Senator, where she sponsored legislation to aid families at risk of foreclosure and legislation to provide affordable housing throughout New Jersey.

Tracy Riley focuses her law practice on civil defense and civil matters. She has served as public defender for Delran and Westhampton Townships. In 2006 through 2009 she served on Mt. Laurel Township Council.

Deb Rosen is a partner at Archer Greiner P.C. She concentrates her law practice on complex environmental and toxic tort legislation, environmental due diligence and compliance, with emphasis on groundwater contamination cases involving claims for both property damage and serious personal injury,

Camelia Valdes was the first Latina county prosecutor in New Jersey, the first woman prosecutor in Passaic County and the first lead prosecutor of Dominican ancestry in the United States.

As chief law enforcement officer in Passaic County, she is responsible for management of approximately 185 office employees, a $19.2 million office budget and the oversight of 16 municipal police departments.
