The Department of Parks and Rec Column

The Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer a wide variety of activities for Moorestown’s adult population. From the Senior Field Trips to personal fitness and league sports, the Recreation Department is Moorestown’s recreation destination.

The First Annual 3rd Floor Café Night for Adults is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., featuring two local bands. The Trouble with Plaid is a multi-generational Moorestown band, known for 3-part harmonies and soft rock favorites. The Collins/Flynn Duo is composed of the two founding members of the Collins/Flynn Band, Todd Johnson and Neil Arot, playing the top hits of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
In lieu of registration fee, the department asks for non-perishable items that will be donated to Moorestown’s local food pantries through live civilly.

The Department of Parks and Recreation has had a long-standing commitment to providing active programs for adults and seniors. The Moorestown Recreation Bowling League is one of the longest continuing programs offered by the department. The Adult Ultimate Choice Mixed League is offered at Laurel Lanes bowling alley for 16 weeks, which began Jan. 6. However, there is still room available. The league will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Pickle Ball is another program with growing attendance and is easy and fun to learn. Pickle Ball is played at the Church Street Recreation Gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For those adults wishing to find a little “friendly competition” the Recreation Basketball, Soccer, Co-Ed Volleyball and Co-Ed Softball Leagues are a perfect fit. The Adult Recreation Co-Ed Basketball League is a great way to meet other adults who share your love of hoops. Located conveniently in the Moorestown High School Isenberg Gym this winter, those wishing to stay in shape and find a fun evening of hoops will find it here. In the spring this program will move to the Church Street Recreation Center Gym. Co-Ed Volleyball at William Allen Middle School is another great way to meet other volleyball enthusiasts in a friendly, yet competitive environment. Spring will host Co-Ed Softball at Jeff young Fields and registration will be open shortly.

For adults wishing to find the perfect personal fitness program, you need look no further than Moorestown Recreation. From Balanced Athletics to Boot Camp to Yoga and more, Recreation Fitness Programs rival the most specialized gyms in South Jersey. Staffed with professional fitness experts residents can choose from seven days each week and any level of fitness participation that fits their lifestyle.

This winter adults can participate in cooking classes or one-day workshops that focus on culinary creativity. From homemade quick breads and yeast breads to whole meals with balanced, healthy ingredients adults will find new ideas and new techniques.
