Bancroft School receives grant for new dance program

Students at the Bancroft School in Haddonfield will be getting their boogie on thanks to two $2,500 grants for its new dance program from the Investors Bank Foundation and the Roma Bank Community Foundation.

The Bancroft School is a premier program for children with autism and developmental disabilities. It provides a supportive and individualized education ranging from early childhood through elementary, middle and high school/vocational school to post-secondary preparation. This special Bancroft Campus Transition Program enables students to have the opportunity to participate in college life and interact with nondisabled peers at the main campus of Camden County College in Blackwood.

Bancroft applied for the grants from the Investors Bank Foundation and Roma Bank Community Foundation; Roma Bank became part of Investors Bank in December 2013. The foundations support non-profit organizations that enrich diverse communities served by Investors Bank.

“The grants from Investors Bank enable us to launch a new dance program,” explained Toni Pergolin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bancroft. “When children who often have difficulty communicating have the opportunity for expression within the arts — especially dance — possibility is opened for these students. We are grateful to Investors for enabling us to hire a specialized dance instructor to work with all of our students from age 8 through 21.”

Investors Bank’s Angela Venti, Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager of Marlton Office, presented the grant checks to Pergolin.

“Bancroft provides invaluable services to children and adults that enable them to reach their full potential,” said Venti. “Investors Bank supports Bancroft’s efforts to engage its students in the world around them. We hope our grants will enable Bancroft to incorporate a dance program that gives students greater mobility and confidence in themselves and their abilities.”
