Burlington County Library System seeks commissioned artwork proposals for two library branches

BurlingtonCountyLibrary

The Burlington County Library System invites qualified artists to submit proposals for original artwork to be displayed at The County Library in Westampton and the Cinnaminson branch.

The library system will display the new welcoming artwork at the two facilities in keeping with the spirit of the BCLS mission to enrich lives by providing opportunities for learning, growth, and personal development.

At the County Library, which completed an expansion and renovation project in 2013, the artwork will be displayed on the wall behind the information desk and the wall between the children’s and teen rooms. At the Cinnaminson Library, the new artwork will be displayed against a warm palette of natural stone within a reading alcove.

The selected artists will be compensated for all expenses associated with designing, creating and installing the artwork, and all proposals must be prepared and submitted in accordance with the guidelines presented in the “Call for Artists” document (available on the BCLS website) by Feb. 29.

Finalists may be interviewed by the BCLS Art Selection Committee, and criteria for final selection will include: broad public appeal; artistic excellence; durability and exposure to the environment; ability to enhance the library space; and total cost of art and installation in relation to scope of work.

The project is open to all artists/artist groups in New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area (with the exception of library staff, members of the Art Selection Committee or their families).

Emerging and established artists and persons from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

For more information about submission requirements and how to apply, go to http://www.bcls.lib.nj.us/call-artists or contact Christy Kaciuba at (609) 267–9660, ext. 3043.
