Shoplifting and drug arrests top this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Report

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

On Dec. 27 at 9:59 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Wawa on Route 73 for a disturbance. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 33, of Williamstown, for possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 27 at 8:03 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Best Buy on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting. It was reported that the suspect fled the store with $200 in merchandise and was being chased by an employee on foot. An off duty police officer from another jurisdiction detained the suspect in front of ShopRite on Nixon Drive. Officers arrested the suspect, a male, age 28, of Mt. Holly. He was charged with shoplifting with bail set at $10,000, no percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Dec. 27 at 5:23 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to 172 Canterbury Road for a house fire. The Mt. Laurel Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The residence was unoccupied and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

On Dec. 27 at 1:28 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 32, of Cherry Hill. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 26 at 6:08 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to 7 Brookwood Court for a house fire. The Mt. Laurel Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but did not appear suspicious.

On Dec. 25 at 12:05 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 200 block of Starboard Way. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 21, of Mt. Laurel for outstanding criminal warrants. He was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Dec. 24 at 11:30 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police located an occupied suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Larchmont Swim Club on Larchmont Boulevard. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 19, of Camden. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 24 at 10:50 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Fellowship Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 23, of Cherry Hill. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 22 at 1:30 p.m. a suspect attempted to cash two fraudulent checks at the TD Bank drive through on Ark Road. The suspect drove off in a blue Pontiac prior to police arrival.

A resident on the first block of Longbridge Drive reported someone purposely scratched his vehicle on Dec. 21 between 1 a.m. and 12 p.m.

On Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. a subject conducted multiple transactions with a credit card and attempted to purchase over $4,500 in gift cards from Starbucks on Fellowship Road. During the suspect’s last transaction the credit card was declined. The suspect left the store saying he would return to complete his transaction with cash, but he never returned. All of the transactions were voided by Starbucks. He was described as a male in his 20s, average build, 5’8”, with dreadlocks.

A resident of the 500 block of Willow Turn reported that her unlocked vehicle was entered during the early morning hours of Dec. 21. Cash and personal documents were stolen.

A resident reported that she received a billing statement from Walmart on Dec. 20. The victim reported that she never opened an account at Walmart. The investigation revealed someone opened an account using her identity and made over $1,300 in purchases.

On Dec. 20 an employee of a doctor’s office on Briggs Road reported that she suspected an employee was stealing money from the business. An investigation determined that employee, a female, age 42, of Runnemede, stole approximately $4,000 from the business over the course of two months. On Dec. 24 at 7 a.m. the female turned herself into Mt. Laurel Police. She was charged with fraud and released pending a court hearing.
