Dear Friends,

Can you believe it is December already, and the year is rapidly coming to a close? Where did the time go? So much left to do and so little time.

Remember to join us next Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. for a lesson in gift-wrapping. Those who are all thumbs are especially invited. We will provide all the information on measuring, cutting, folding and making the prettiest ribbons under the tree. Practice on our dummy gifts or bring your own to wrap. Supplies are provided.

We will also be announcing our special December raffles next Wednesday. For the children, we are keeping with our month long theme of Star Wars. There are Star Wars books and a Star Wars Lego set. There is even a Star Wars Yoda Origami book. What fun to learn a new craft!

As for you adults, Dennis McDonald, a local and author, has donated a signed copy of his book “MEDFORD”. You can enjoy our town’s history while nibbling the accompanying moose munch.

The Pinelands Library is also holding its first silent auction to benefit our programs. A wonderful early Medford wooden dollhouse has been donated just in time for the holidays. Stop by to view this lovely gift and place your bid.

Children of all ages can begin to plan for their vacation reading. We have offerings to suit every taste. Tweens can read “Middle School: The worst Years of My Life” in preparation for our Tween Book Club meeting Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.

Attention baseball fans of all ages! Join us on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. for an afternoon of Nicktoons MLB on the Xbox 360. Test your skills against other local players. Registration guarantees you gaming time and can be done at www.bcls.lib.nj.us/calendar/month/mf.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Margaret Lafferty
