Police K-9 tracking a suspect after fleeing a stolen car tops this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Report

The following incidents are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

On Dec. 6 at 2:30 a.m. a Mt. Laurel Police Officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Bank of America Shopping Center, 3131 Route 38. As the officer entered the lot the suspicious vehicle drove off. The officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop but the suspect sped off and turned onto Sedgefield Drive of the Laurel Place development. The driver jumped from the moving car and ran. The driverless vehicle crashed into a parked car. It was discovered that the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen from Mt. Holly on Dec 3. With the help of a Police K-9 officers tracked the suspect and eventually located a male, age 23, of Mt. Holly hiding in a dumpster behind the McDonalds on Route 38 near Ark Road. He was charged with eluding, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of a stun gun. Bail was set at $50,000, no 10 percent option and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Dec. 6 at 1 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hainesport Road near Hartford Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 20, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 6 at 12:20 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police arrested a male, age 18, of Mt. Laurel for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was arrested at a hotel on Route 73 where officers were investigating another unrelated matter. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 4 at 11:20 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a single vehicle crash at the construction site on Hartford Road near Marne Highway. A vehicle entered the closed roadway and drove into a deep ditch. Officers arrested a male, age 30, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A victim reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Dec. 4 while it was parked at 112 West Park Drive. An undetermined amount of cash was stolen.

On Dec. 3 at 12:55 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 27, of Maple Shade for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

During the overnight hours of Nov. 30 into Dec. 1 someone broke into the maintenance shed at Laurel Acres Park on South Church Street. Four backpack leaf blowers and a chain saw were stolen.

On Nov. 30 an employee of the Bob Evan’s restaurant 601 Fellowship Road reported that a suspect attempted to make a small purchase with a counterfeit $50 bill. The cashier realized the money was counterfeit and notified the store manager. The suspect fled the store leaving the money behind when the cashier called for the manager. The suspect was described as a male in his 30s, wearing a blue fleece jacket and brown pants.

On Nov. 30 at 10:30 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 27, of Cherry Hill. He was arrested after he provided a false name to officers in attempt to avoid being arrested for outstanding warrants. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension and turned over to Maple Shade Police for outstanding warrants.
