Letter to the Editor: Volunteer sadly leaves Mabel Kay Senior Center

letter Editor

To the Editor:

To the seniors who attended the functions at the Mable Kay Senior Center,

This is to let you know from the bottom of my heart that it has been my pleasure and an honor to serve you over the past decade or so. It is with deep sorrow that I will no longer be calling bingo and sharing the fun and laughter we have known. I will miss the Christmas parties, the 50/50 lunches and the picnics we have shared and as for our Friday luncheons. I will miss serving you coffee and lunch, chatting with you and simply enjoying your company. I have been doing this because I have a special place in my heart for the senior population that began when I was 16 years old as a candy striper at Saint Mary’s Home then as an adult I became the caregiver of both of my parents until the day they passed.

I suppose we all have a calling and I believe my calling was to bring as much joy as I could to brighten up your days. I hope that my presence at Mabel Kay did just that, the same way that being with you brightened up my days. Volunteering at Mabel Kay was the one thing I always looked forward to. I appreciate all the love I have received and know that I love and will miss you all and you will remain in my heart and prayers forever. May god bless all of you!
