DWI’s, heroin overdoses and a phone scam top this week’s Mt. Laurel Police report

On Oct. 25 at 4:15 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Ulta Beauty store on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. An employee reported that two men left the store without paying for approximately $650 worth of merchandise. They fled the scene in a 1990s black Ford Explorer. The investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 25 at 2:10 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Masonville Road near Coral Avenue for the report of a driver slumped over the wheel of his vehicle. Officers determined that the driver was intoxicated. A male, age 35, of Mt. Laurel was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Oct. 25 at 2:10 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Walgreen’s on Route 38 for a fraud report. The investigation determined that two female suspects used stolen credit cards to purchase $800 worth of gift cards. The investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 24 at 9:25 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Route 38 near Hartford Road for the report of a vehicle that had been hit by a rock. The investigation determined that an unknown suspect(s) threw several rocks at vehicles traveling east on Route 38. A 2015 Honda minivan was struck by a rock causing extensive damage to the windshield. It was determined that the rocks were thrown from the mini golf course at the Funplex. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On Oct. 24 at 3:35 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Wegman’s on Centerton Road for the report of a suspicious person in the store. The investigation determined that the suspect was using his cellular phone to secretly take photos up the skirt of a female customer. The victim was not aware she was being photographed. Officers arrested a male, age 48, of Cherry Hill, who was still in the store at the time of the investigation. He was charged with third degree invasion of privacy and released pending a court hearing.

On Oct. 24 at 8:40 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. Officers arrested a male, age 39, of Clementon for shoplifting $223 worth of merchandise. He was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

On Oct. 23 Mt. Laurel Police responded to an office at 3001 Leadenhall Road for a theft report. An employee reported that between 7:45 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. someone stole her wallet from her purse when it was left unattended on her desk. The pink Coach wallet contained cash, credit cards and other documents.

On Oct. 20 at 2:30 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Atrium Way. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 51, of Upper Darby, PA. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police stopped two pedestrians on Route 73 near Clover Road. Officers arrested a male, age 33, of Mt. Laurel and a male, age 33, of Westampton. Both men had multiple warrants for their arrest. The Mt. Laurel male was also charged with possession of heroin and committed to the Burlington County Jail. The Westampton male was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A 55-year-old victim reported that on Oct. 19 she received a phone call from a man claiming to be a bail bondsman. The bondsman claimed that the victim’s daughter, who resides in another state, had warrants for her arrest and needed bail. The victim wired $1,346 to the bondsman before it was discovered that the bondsman was an imposter.

On Oct. 19 at 7:40 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Hartford Road. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 58, of Pemberton. She provided a false name to officers in an attempt to avoid being arrested on an outstanding warrant. She was released pending a court hearing after satisfying the warrant.

On Oct. 19 at 4:15 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Route 73 for the report of an unresponsive subject. On arrival officers were directed to the 53-year-old male victim in his hotel room. They determined that he had overdosed on heroin and administered Narcan. The victim was revived and transported to JFK Cherry Hill Hospital by Mount Laurel EMS.

A resident on the 1300 block of Crofton Court reported a package was stolen from their front porch on Oct. 19 sometime after it was delivered at 10 a.m.

On Oct. 18 at 11:40 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Route 73 to check on the wellbeing of a guest at the request of a family member. Officers located the subject’s room and could see the 24-year-old man lying on the bed unresponsive. Officers forced entry into the room and determined he had overdosed on heroin. An officer administered Narcan and provided additional first aid until he became responsive. The subject was transported to JFK Hospital, Cherry Hill by Mt. Laurel EMS.

On Oct. 16 at 9:45 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Route 73 for the report of an unresponsive subject. On arrival officers were directed to the 57-year-old female victim in her hotel room. They determined that she had overdosed on heroin and administered Narcan. The victim was revived and transported to Virtua Hospital Marlton by Mt. Laurel EMS.

A guest of a hotel on Fellowship Road reported his rental vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, was stolen from the hotel parking lot on Oct. 15 between 10:45 p.m. and 10:55 p.m.
