First Night buttons go on sale Oct. 17

Fun on New Year’s Eve — for free!

Plans are well in hand for First Night — the annual family-friendly, alcohol-free celebration of the arts in Haddonfield on New Year’s Eve.

The organizing committee has scheduled some 30 performances at 15 warm, indoor venues in downtown Haddonfield, plus fireworks at 9 p.m. All for just $15. Admission buttons will go on sale on Oct. 17.

Some area residents will get their buttons for free, however. By volunteering to help, either between now and New Year’s Eve, or on the night itself, they will receive a complimentary button that will enable them to attend performances of their choice.

Volunteers are needed in advance to distribute First Night posters and flyers around the town and to promote the event and sell buttons at various community events that will take place in October, November and December.

On New Year’s Eve, volunteers will monitor guests’ entry at the doors of the various venues, assist backstage, serve as performance managers and masters-of-ceremony, place signs at the various venues, distribute programs, and sell buttons — if any are still available!

To sign up, email Chris Thomas at ctgotkids@verizon.net, call him at (215) 779–6532, or download the volunteer form at FirstNightHaddonfield.org and submit it at the Information Center, 2 Kings Court.

Also, prospective volunteers may sign up during Fall Festival, on Saturday, Oct. 17. The First Night table will be located near the town clock.
