Voorhees Branch of the Camden County Library to hold book sale Oct. 15–17

LibraryBookSale

The Voorhees branch of the Camden County Library is planning to hold its biggest book sale with over 50,000 books, CDs, DVDs, Videos and Books-on-tape from Thursday Oct. 15 — Saturday Oct. 17.

Typically hundreds of book-lovers, bargain hunters and book dealers from the tristate area are attracted to the event where 99 percent of the items will be priced between fifty cents and $2, with nothing over $3, according to William Brahms, branch manager of the Voorhees library and chief organizer of the sale.

About 90 percent of the items are donated by customers, collectors and estates, with used library materials making up only about ten percent of the stock at the library’s book sales.

The library’s semi-annual sales have always attracted a lot of shoppers, but turnout and the number of items sold has been increasing steadily in the last few years. “We are actually filling a void left by the changing book publishing industry, with fewer and few brick and mortar stores around. This year we will have ten more tables than we used last year,” explains Brahms.

This past spring the library surpassed its old two-day record by collecting almost $18,000 in sales. It hopes to set a new three-day record with 85 tables and other shelves filled with books and other media like CDs, DVDs, Videos and books-on-tape.

The doors will open 10 a.m. each day of the sale and it will end at 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with a 3 p.m. closing on Saturday, Oct. 17, the last day of the sale.
