Hit and run incident and marijuana arrests top this week’s Mt. Laurel Police report

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

On Sept. 25 at 9:05 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to Fellowship Road near Church Road for a hit and run motor vehicle crash. The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle but was located a short time later by the Maple Shade Police on Route 73 near High Street in Maple Shade. A Mt. Laurel Police officer responded to the Maple Shade location and arrested the driver, a male, age 35, of Philadelphia. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and several motor vehicle violations. He was released pending a court hearing.

An employee of cable TV contractor reported that a tool box on one of their work trucks was broken into between Sept 24 and 25 while it was parked in a parking lot of a hotel on Crawford Place. A wire lashing machine and a gas drill were taken.

On Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a pedestrian stop on Route 73 near Rogers Walk. The officer stopped the woman because he knew she had a warrant for selling stolen jewelry at a local gold buying establishment. Officers arrested a female, age 20, of Mt. Laurel. After she was arrested the officer discovered she was in possession of Percocet pills not prescribed to her. She was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and receiving stolen property. Her bail was set at $7,500 and she was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Sept. 25 at 9:05 p.m. Mount Laurel Police responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on the first block of Saddle Drive. Officers arrested a male, age 23, Mt. Laurel as he exited a rear door of the residence. The investigation revealed the male gained entry into the residence by removing a window screen and opening an unlocked window on the first floor. He stole an iPad, jewelry and clothing. He was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. The male was transported to Lourdes Hospital, Willingboro for a medical evaluation.

On Sept. 26 at 1:45 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a pedestrian stop on two suspicious people on Route 73 near the New Jersey Turnpike. During the investigation officers arrested a male, age 31, of Mt Laurel and a female, age 29, of Mt. Laurel for outstanding warrants. Both were also in possession of hypodermic syringes. They were each charged with possession of a syringe and released after satisfying their warrants.

On Sept. 26 at 3 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the ShopRite on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. Officers arrested a female, age 55, of Mt. Laurel. She was charged with shoplifting $35 worth of merchandise and released pending a court hearing.

On Sept. 26 at a 1:20 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a suspicious person investigation on Century Parkway near Fellowship Road. During the investigation officers arrested a female, age 46, of Cherry Hill. She was charged with hindering her own apprehension after she provided a false identity to the investigating officer in an attempt to avoid arrest on an outstanding criminal warrant. She was turned over to another jurisdiction for the warrant.

On Sept. 26 at 6:45 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 22, of Mount Holly for possession of drug paraphernalia and a male, age 19, of Lumberton for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Both were released pending a court hearing.

On September 26 at 8:10 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near I295. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 28, of Willingboro. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.
