Evesham Police arrest suspected members of New York credit card fraud ring who rammed police car

On Aug. 6 at 9:05 p.m., Evesham Police officers responded to the Walmart store, 150 East Route 70 for four males that were identified by store security as being part of a credit card fraud ring that have been targeting numerous Walmart stores in the area.

The group attempted to purchase iPad’s with fraudulent credit cards, but were denied the purchase by alert store staff.

As the group entered their Ford SUV with North Carolina registration, officers positioned their vehicles behind the SUV and activated their emergency lights and sirens. The driver then placed his vehicle in reverse, ramming a police vehicle before fleeing at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance before terminating the pursuit due to the inherent risk of injury to innocent bystanders.

At 3:26 a.m. on Aug. 7, an officer assigned to the DDACTS Zone attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Route 73. As the officer pulled behind the SUV he realized it was the vehicle that was pursued earlier by officers. A felony vehicle stop was conducted and all four occupants were arrested without incident.

Arrested:

A male, age 21, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with second degree eluding, third degree aggravated assault by auto, and third degree criminal attempt credit card fraud. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $100,000 bail.

A male, age 18, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with third degree aggravated assault by auto, and third degree criminal attempt credit card fraud. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $20,000 bail.

A male, age 21, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with third degree aggravated assault by auto, and third degree criminal attempt credit card fraud. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $20,000 bail.

A juvenile male, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with third degree aggravated assault by auto, and third degree criminal attempt credit card fraud. He was released to a parent.
