Curtain Call wrapping up summer camp was performances Aug. 6 through Aug. 9

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center is gearing up for four days of performances this week in the culmination of the group’s 2015 summer camp program. The organization will celebrate its fifth season with performances of “Alice and Wonderland,” “Winnie the Pooh” and “Shrek” beginning Thursday, Aug. 6.

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center’s summer camp program is home to over 70 aspiring actors and actresses from Burlington County, ages 5 to 14. The group has traveled to Broadway to attend The Actor’s Workshop and lessons in voice, acting and choreography and it journeys to Atlanta each January to perform in the esteemed Jr. Theater Festival.

Anne Kessler, director of Curtain Call Performing Arts Center, says, “This is our fifth year of bringing children’s theater to the community and I am so excited about what these talented kids have accomplished. Musical theatre is such a valuable gift you can give to a child. Children that experience musical theatre gain poise and confidence, increase their self-esteem and learn to work with others all while having fun!”

Kessler, an educator, plans to realize her students’ acting potential not just at summer camp, but year-round, with the opening of a new facility this September. The Curtain Call Performing Arts Center Studio will be located at 3815 Church Road, Suite 11 in Mt. Laurel and will offer voice, dance and musical theatre training for children of Burlington County all throughout the year. Classes will taught by area professionals, many with teaching degrees. The program has three main goals: arts education, inspiring confidence in the children it serves, and building a strong, non-competitive community for young aspiring performers.
