Mt. Laurel TD Bank on Ark Road holding fundraiser for Women’s Opportunity Center

TD Bank has announced a partnership through the “Bring Change” program with the Women’s Opportunity Center, a program of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties located at the Burlington-Riverfront YMCA, a displaced homemakers center located in Burlington.

In an effort to aid the Women’s Opportunity Center as a guide for women through their toughest times, TD Bank’s Mt. Laurel store will be hosting “Green Friday” on Friday, Aug. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ark Road Mt. Laurel store. On Green Friday, all customers who use the store’s Penny Arcade will have the opportunity to donate a portion of their change, up to $2,000, to the Women’s Opportunity Center.

In addition to all customer change donations made at the Penny Arcade on Green Friday, TD Bank will match a portion of the donations and donate them to the Women’s Opportunity Center. The funds will help women and their families who are on their journey to self-sufficiency.

The partnership grows out of TD Bank’s “Bring Change” program, which supports local organizations that are making a real difference in the communities TD serves. The program also assists individuals recovering from hardships, such as illness or natural disaster.

The Women’s Opportunity Center has been helping displaced homemakers for 24 years, women who have lost financial support due to separation, divorce, death or disability of a spouse. The center is committed to help women gain economic self-sufficiency through education, job readiness, networking, outreach, referrals and emotional support. It also promotes awareness of women’s rights and issues through public advocacy.

“When you help yourself, or when you reach out to help another woman, you help everyone,” said Cathi Rendfrey, director of the Women’s Opportunity Center. “You help your mother, your sister, your child, your friend. We are all connected.”
