Library Summer Schedule through Labor Day 2015
The Library will be open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays the library will be closed.
The library will be closed on these holidays and other days in 2015: Sept. 5 through 7; Nov. 26; Dec. 24 and 25; and Jan. 1, 2016.
Update on the library renovation and expansion:
Premier Builders has been working on demolition at 60 Haddon Avenue. The library has an annex at 123 Kings Highway East. The Kings Highway service point offers borrowing of selected collections in higher demand; computer services and instruction; and some children’s and teen collections. The library’s bookdrops have moved to behind 123 Kings Highway. There is also a mail and book slot on the front door. As parking is tight, you may want to walk to the bookdrops. The library is next to the Haddonfield Running Company, which has signs on the front and back of its building.
Programming for children is being held at Borough Hall in the auditorium during the daytime. Teen craft events are also being held at Borough Hall in Room 201.

July 20- Use fabric to make covered button for jewelry or hair clips
July 27- Paint your nails, decorate them with some nail art.
Aug. 3- Create a collage or memory box to fill with your memories over the summer
Visit the library or our website at www.haddonfieldlibrary.org for updates. The Library Board and Borough Commissioners want to keep the community updated throughout the renovation project. The existing library is anticipated to be closed for seven months.
Residents of Haddonfield may obtain temporary library cards at the Camden County Library system, Cherry Hill Public Library and the Haddon Heights Public Library. These library cards will be in effect during the time of the renovation. Haddonfield residents should take photo-identification to these libraries to obtain temporary library cards. Buy a Leaf to support the “We Love Our Library” Campaign at HPL
The HPL Library Board of Trustees launched the “We Love Our Library” campaign to provide fund raising for the library’s long awaited expansion and renovation. The library will be expanded by a 2000 square feet addition on Tanner Street. The expansion will provide an elevator and handicapped accessible bathrooms. The library’s interior will also be reconfigured for complete handicapped accessibility. The library will be closed for about seven months and operate at 123 Kings Highway East. The renovation will also provide an opportunity to modernize the library to serve Haddonfield residents in the 21st century.
The Library Board is partnering with the Borough of Haddonfield to upgrade the library. The Borough Commissioners will pay for the improvements that will make the library handicapped accessible, as well as some building upgrades such as a new roof, heating renovation, etc. The Library Board is conducting the campaign to pay for enhancements to the building to allow it to operate as a 21st century library. This will include a vastly improved children’s department with better programming space and room for children to explore and learn in a fun, creative area. The library will also have a larger meeting room equipped with new technology; a distinct teen area; collaborative study spaces; and browsing spaces for the community to delight in the library’s collections. Creating a place for community connection is a vital part of the renovation.
Toward that end the Library Board has launched the “We Love Our Library” campaign. The campaign will raise funds for the enhancements, such as contemporary furnishings, equipment, and newer technology throughout the building. You can help by buying a leaf on the tree mural created by HMHS National Honor Society members. Student Event Coordinator, Abby Czernieckiis, led the National Art Honor Society on the project along with NAHS Supervisor, Allie Westerside. The mural will act as a donor recognition element and a spark igniting the “We Love Our Library” campaign.
The tree is located at the library annex at 123 Kings Highway East. Donations are being accepted from $5 to $250. Check with the library staff at the annex. Donations above $250 will be permanently honored in the library after completion of the renovation.

Drop in with your device on July 27 and Aug. 5, 10 and 24 after 6 p.m. Learn how to get free streamed and downloaded materials with your library card. The Adult Book group will meet on July 20 at Saxby’s Coffee Shop at 6:45 p.m. The featured selection is “Funny Girl” by Nick Hornby. New members are welcome. There will be a raffle at every event to win a gift certificate to a local Haddonfield coffee or ice cream shop! Everyone who attends will be eligible. The Friends of the Library will meet on Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall. The Friends will hold the annual book sale on Oct. 2, 3 and 4 this year at the first Presbyterian Church at 20 Kings Highway East. The Members Only preview will be Friday, Oct. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. People may join at the door. No electronic scanners will be permitted at the preview. The sale continues on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The collection of donations will begin on Friday, Sept. 4. The hours of collection are from Monday to Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Friends will not be collecting these items: audio or video cassettes, records or book sets due to the limited space available for storage prior to the sale.
