Theft, drug possession lead this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

A resident of the unit block of Sternlight Drive reported someone attempted to force entry to the front door of the residence on June 29 between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m.

On June 29 at 8:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the unit block of Courtney Way for a theft investigation. The victim suspected that an employee of a moving company had stolen jewelry from her. The investigation revealed that the moving company employee, a 26-year-old man from Sicklerville, stole prescription medication from the resident. The jewelry could not be located. The man was charged with theft and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released pending a court hearing.

On June 29 at 10:50 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to Pleasant Valley Avenue at South Church Street for a single vehicle crash. During the investigation officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On June 30 at 1:35 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Beaver Avenue. During the stop officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Pennsauken for an outstanding warrant. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing after posting bail on his warrant.

On June 30 at 1:20 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Interstate-295. During the stop officers arrested a 19-year-old woman from Maple Shade. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

On June 30 at 9:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Mt. Laurel Road. During the stop officers arrested a 50-year-old man from Atlanta, Ga. after he provided false identifying information to officers in an effort to avoid arrest on several outstanding warrants. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension with bail set at $5,000 with no 10 percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A contractor reported the theft of construction materials and tools valued at approximately $3,000 from a construction site on Courtney Way. The theft occurred during the early morning hours of June 30.

A contractor reported that someone stole a large roll of copper wire valued at $770 from an office building undergoing renovation on Commerce Parkway. The theft occurred between July 1 and July 2. No force was used to gain entry to the office building.

A guest at a hotel on Route 73 reported that her iPhone was stolen after it was left unattended in a ballroom area of the hotel on July 1 between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Two members of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported items were stolen from their unsecured lockers in the men’s locker room on July 2 between 1:45 and 2:45 p.m. Cell phones, cash, and credit cards were taken.

On June 3 at 10 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hainesport Road near Forest Lake Drive. During the stop officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He provided a false name to avoid being arrested on multiple criminal warrants. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension with bail set at $7,500 with no 10 percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A resident of Stratford Lane reported that their 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from in front of the residence between July 2 and July 3.

On July 3 at 3:45 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Interstate-295. During the stop officers arrested a 24-year-old woman from Eastampton. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of fireworks. She was released pending a court hearing.

On July 3 at 4:15 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Marter Avenue. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 22-year-old man from Browns Mills, after he provided a false name to officers in an attempt to avoid arrest on multiple warrants. Officers also arrested passenger another 22-year-old man from Browns Mills after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located in the car. The driver was charged with hindering his own apprehension, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was turned over to Pemberton Police for an outstanding warrant. The passenger was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia and released pending a court hearing.

On July 4 at 1 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the area of Crows Nest Court and Centerton Road for a disturbance. During the investigation officers arrested a 20-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol. He was released pending a court hearing.

An employee of Ulta on Nixon Drive reported that on July 2 at approximately 6:50 p.m., four individuals entered the store and stole over $900 in cosmetics. When an employee approached them, the suspects fled the store.

A member of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported that his car keys were stolen from an unsecured locker in the men’s locker room on July 4 between 4 and 5 p.m. The suspect located the victim’s car and moved it to another section of the parking lot. The victim’s wallet, cash, and cell phone were then stolen from the car.

On July 4 at 9:10 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Fellowship Road for a narcotics complaint. During the investigation officers arrested a 35-year-old woman from Philadelphia. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

On July 4 at 10:20 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on the 1200 block of Hainesport Road for a narcotics complaint. During the investigation officers arrested a 47-year-old man from Mt. Laurel and a 35-year-old woman from Philadelphia after it was determined they were both under the influence of marijuana laced with PCP. The man was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and being under the influence of CDS. The woman was charged with being under the influence of CDS. Both were released pending a court hearing.

An 81-year-old resident reported that he received a phone call on June 30 from an unidentified individual stating that his grandson was in trouble in Las Vegas and needed $1,400 in bail money. The victim sent $1,400 via Western Union to another individual in the Dominican Republic. On July 1, the victim received another call stating that his grandson needed an additional $1,200. The victim then realized that he had been scammed and did not send any more money.

A resident of the 4400 block of Church Road reported that his red Schwinn Beach Cruiser bicycle was stolen off of a bike rack on his car between July 4 and July 5.

On July 5 at 7:20 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Crawford Place for a narcotics complaint. During the investigation officers arrested a 30-year-old woman from Cherry Hill. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

On July 5 at 8:40 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on South Church Street at Birchfield Drive. During the investigation officers arrested a 52-year-old woman from Mt. Laurel. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

A resident of Hemlock Lane reported that someone stole his Currie-Tech E3 Vibe electric bicycle from in front of his residence on July 5 between 9:30 and 9:35 p.m.
