Senator Dawn Addiego has been honored with the “Legislator of the Year Award” presented by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors at the organization’s Annual Spring Conference in Atlantic City.

“As a former township councilwoman, I know firsthand the enormous tasks that members of local government face,” said Addiego. “They are the first line of government when it comes to the citizenry and it is their role that has the most immediate on their communities. This is especially true for the job of Mayor, one of the toughest jobs to have in government.”

We are proud to have found a partner in Trenton who understands the struggles and responsibilities of governing at the local level”, Said Conference of Mayors President Deborah Buzby-Cope. “Senator Addiego’s efforts to make our communities better places to live make her a more than deserving recipient for this award.”

Senator Dawn Addiego has served in the legislature since 2008 and has been a member of the New Jersey Senate since 2010. Senator Addiego has a long career of public service prior to that, having served as a Burlington County Freeholder and a member of Evesham Township Council for seven years.

The New Jersey Conference of Mayors is a group of leading mayors whose mission is to provide a unified approach and open line of communication with state and federal legislatures and administrations that reflects the will of the people of New Jersey and works to improve the health and well being of all its residents.

“My experiences as a local elected official have always had a significant impact on my decisions as a legislator. I know all too well the problems Trenton causes when red tape hinders community progress and unfunded mandates tighten budgets even further,” continued Addiego. “That is why I pledged to fight for policies that would allow towns to grow and also make them more affordable. It is a pledge that informs every vote I cast.”
